Aphasia Ellipsis

Ongoing series of ​drawings​ in ink with watercolor, exploring the relationships between graphical score, literary text, and sound recordings....

Aphasia Ellipsis implies the edge of speech where sound and meaning disassociate and recconfigure: drawings as site and graphic score. Based on literary texts, field recording-based music, from Ann Carson, Julie Herndon, and others. Work in progress.

Trembling, stuttering, aphasia, shimmer: the immanence of a 'true thing' is fortunately illusive. it might operate by some chance (as Cage might have said, chance operations, but in reverse). A drawing can't be the 'whole truth.'

But this is why art is feared by those who want total immanence.  Imperfect transcriptions from texts and music.

The drawings have their own half life.
