Aphasia Ellipsis: A Site Reader
Reversal of the familiar sequence [score-yields-sound] in music, the drawing process iterates [sound-yields-score], wherein the term 'score' is becoming the locale or 'site'. What is being read as a score could be a river's voices captured with hydrophones. Or the imaginary voice of the author in your head as you read an essay. Or the reverb of your childhood hours on the piano. Or a story.
To start, from the inside of the voice, dot dot dot...
A site reader transcribes what she hears into a new form, only to the extent that she is able to do so based on her self-connaissance, or understanding: why the drawings have a diaristic aesthetic...
Trembling, stuttering, aphasia, shimmer: the immanence of a 'true thing' is fortunately illusive. it might operate by some chance (as Cage might have said, chance operations, but in reverse). A drawing can't be the 'whole truth.' But this is why art is feared by those who want total immanence.
